About Course

WalkSafe Virtual for Grades 6-8 is a three-module course about traffic safety, including the benefits of walking, signs and signals, and the importance of safe street design.

Short, interactive quizzes are included for each module along with outdoor activities. A completion certificate will be provided at the end of the course.

This course can be self-taught at home or integrated into your school’s online learning curricula.

Module 1: Walking & You
In this module, we dive into the amazing benefits of walking and the steps to ensure you're strolling safely, whether you're heading to school or exploring your neighborhood. By the end, you'll have a clear understanding of why walking is so beneficial and the knowledge to walk with confidence and care. Let's step into the world of smart and safe walking!

Module 2: Signs and Signals
In this module, we explore the world of signs and signals and how they play a crucial role in guiding us safely around our community. By the end of this lesson, you'll understand the importance of each sign and signal and appreciate the role they play to make our daily travels smooth and safe.

Module 3: Safe Streets
In this module, we get into the essential components that make up safe streets - from crosswalks and signals to signs and stop lines. Not only will we understand why they’re important for our safety, we’ll learn about how they can be improved to make our streets even safer. By the end, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to navigate our community streets and identify components of safe street infrastructure.
